Kimberly has inked a deal to co-star in the upcoming film "Red Soil." She'll be acting alongside Laurence Fishburne and Mykelti Williamson. Powerful cast! The film tackles heady subject matter. It deals with the IMF's meddling in the agricultural sector of certain African nations in the 1990s. You know you don't know as much about that as you should so go see the movie! It is currently only in pre-production and will be released sometime in 2009. I'll post more news as it becomes available.

Ok, so they aren't sitting on a real life tree. They are, however, definitely perched atop a cinematic tree together. Kimberly has played Denzel's onscreen wife twice recently. First in "John Q" and then again in the just released "The Great Debaters." Will they fictionally wed for a third time? Should someone throw them a fake Anniversary party? I'll bring the fake shrimp! It isn't a fake party without fake shrimp.

Kimberly just signed on to play the lead in the upcoming film "Red Soil." She'll play a retired nurse who confronts a child slavery ring at a cocoa plantation in West Africa. As you can imagine, hilarity ensues. Ok, so instead of hilarity, touching drama, but you get the picture.
In the ultimate co-star news of the year, Mykelti Williamson will be playing opposite her. You may remember him from a little film called, I dunno, Forrest Gump?! That's right. Bubba Gump himself will be taking some time off from managing his busy restaurant chain to star in this intense tale of farming and child slavery.
The movie is filming now so look for it next year sometime. And yes that is the actual "Bubba Gump" restaurant mascot below:

You do know that Kimberly's recent film "Pride" was just released on DVD right? So what are you waiting for? Go get it! Terrence Howard and Bernie Mac are in it. It has a giant swimming pool. What more do you want? Here is the trailer:

Kimberly and Denzel Washington have signed on to appear in another film together. This one is called "The Great Debaters" and chronicles the life and times of an East Texas debate team in the 1930s. Denzel plays the stern yet fair coach of the debate team while Kimberly plays the wary yet loving mother of one of the students. Forrest Whitaker is also in it! Isn't he one of our national treasures? I thought I heard that once.
Anyway, Denzel is pulling double duty and both starring in and directing the film. And you'll never guess who is producing it. That's right, Oprah! I'd be more impressed if I didn't know what producers do. When I was a kid I thought producer was just another word for director, instead of just being another word for "person that throws tons of money around."
The film is set to be released in January. More as it develops.
